People Become A Refection Of You – Act Around Others Like You Would Like Them To Act Around You

If you give out energy, enthusiasm, positivity and laughter then people will reflect this and in turn give back energy, enthusiasm, positivity and laughter. This is how it works, remember that people become a reflection of you.

Keep It Simple Stupid

People Complicate Life Too Much – Go Against The Grain And Keep Things Simple Stupid

This complexity caps your time, energy and money and almost always gives you a far less superior outcome. Take a moment to reflect on the things in your life that might be overcomplicated and try to focus on cutting back and streamlining them, you will be amazed at the difference this can make in your life.

2 Ears 1 Mouth

2 Ears 1 Mouth

We are designed with twice as much equipment to hear with than to speak with. Therefore it is a wise thing to listen twice as much as you speak.

One of the easiest ways to make friends, learn, understand and succeed is simply to listen and yet so few people do this effectively. Listening is not about waiting until it is your time to speak, listening is about concentrating, really concentrating, on the person you are listening to. There is nothing more attractive than a good listener. A good listener makes friends easier, networks better, enjoys people’s uniqueness more and learns the most. From now on try to listen more that you speak, you might just learn something.

Positive Investment

It Takes 5 Positive Comments To Counterbalance One Negative.

Negative comments are incredibly powerful and so should be used in moderation. You will need to invest 5 positive comments just to draw out one negative comment from the comment bank and so they should be used wisely and only when absolutely necessary. Great relationships, marriages, business partnerships and friendships are built around this scaling system.

Next time you wish to draw out a negative comment, just make sure you have invested and counterbalanced it with 5 positive comments. Prehaps now, the negative comment really isn’t worth it.

How To Eat An Elephant

How To Eat An Elephant

How do you eat an elephant? In small pieces. How do you solve a problem or finish a task? Break it down.

If you are set with the task of eating an elephant then trying to do it on one sitting is just going to make you sick. However if you break it down and maybe eat a few steaks a day then you could conceivably polish it off in a few months. The same thing applies for problems and tasks. A huge problem never looks quite so large if you break it down into its core components and focus on each one in term. A large task can also be handled easily if broken down and undertaken in small mouthfuls.

Many problems and task look as big as elephants. Break them down into easily manageable chucks and eat your elephant.

Dead Elephant Economics

Dead Elephant Economics

The best way to be the most productive and save time is to batch everything you can from buying groceries to checking email.

So much time is wasted by people who revist tasks time and time again. Shopping and emails are core culprits. Develop your systems so that these time consuming tasks are done at set times and in one go so that further time is not wasted by constantly revisiting them. When you think time is slipping away from you remember the dead elephant and see if it the lack of batching that is really killing your time.

Communication is 60 30 10

November 6, 2009

Communication Is 60 30 10

Communication is 60% visual, 30% Verbal and only 10% dependent on the words you speak.

With this in mind it is essential always to put across energy, enthusiasm and smiles when speaking whether to a room of people or just one person. When presenting don’t worry too much about what you say, people are more interested and will remember how you said it. The same goes for communication with the individual. Chances are they will not remember most of what you say but they will remember how you said it what you looked and sounded like when you said it. There is what you will be remembered for so make sure you leave a good impression, the works will look after themselves. Be confident, be self assured and be a great communicator.

The Productivity Pie

The Productivity Pie

For the most productive remember the Productivity Pie – 2 Hour Blocks of 25 Minutes Work, 5 Mins Rest, 25 Minutes Work, 5 Minutes Rest, 25 Minutes Work, 5 Minutes Rest,25 Minutes Work, 5 Minutes Rest.

This method is so productive because it is based on the natural relationship between human attention span, recall and understanding. As you work on any task for a long period of time your understanding of the work increase however you attention span and memory decreases meaning your work becomes less productive. 2 Hours is the  optimum amount of time for a person to be working on a given task without taking a 30 minute break. This can be split into four 25 minute working sections with a 5 minutes break between them to further increase productivity.
